Hussein's Martyrdom in
Historical Perspective is an English version of the original Urdu title `Wagia-e-Karbala
Aur Uska Pasmanzar'. Following extract from a book review of the Urdu title,
makes a good introduction of the work:
'Research has always been in dire demand in Urdu works. If this research
pertains to a tragic episode of Muslim history casting its ominous shadow of
dispute, dissension and violent reactions, it becomes an acute need. What
Maulana Atiqur Rahman has done through this book is to academically contribute
towards this need, this is the magnum opus of his extensive study........ Mr.
Atiqur Rahman's book is thought provoking, informative and history. It is aMUST
for research on Karbala.'(The Universal Message, Karachi-July 1992)
