This is possibly the most Important Book in the Study of Sufism, there are two good English Translations
Ihya Ulum al-din (The Revival of Religious Sciences) By Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali (d. 510 AH)
Imam Ghazali truly revived Islamic Sciences with his Ihya Ulum al-din.
Now for the First time there is a complete English translation Published in Lebanon.
The Above is a voluminous work so perhaps the best option for the layman would be the one of the following:
An excellent summary in very good English (Far better than the Fazlul Karim, Indian Abridged translation)
or the very affordable and excellent English translation of Imam Al Ghazali’s Adapted Summary of Ihya Ulum al-Din
