Importance of Salah By Moulana Adnan Murtaza Nadwi

Salah is the most important worship for the Muslims. It is the pillar of Islam. It has also been mentioned among the basic elements of guidance and pity. It is also screen and shelter between Muslims and disbelievers.

The beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said:

"The covenant between us and them is prayer, so if anyone abandons it he has become a disbeliever."  - (Ahmad & Nasa'ee)

"What lies between a man and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer."  - (Tirmidhi)

We can also guess its significance from the Qur’anic verses given below:

“Pray to me and I will hear your Salah.”  - Qur’an (40:60)

“Guard strictly the Salah, especially the middle Salah. And stand before Allah with obedience.(2:238)

Allah (SWT) said to Musa (A.S):

And I have chosen you (Musa), so listen to that which is inspired to you. Verily, I am Allah! There is none worthy of worship but I, so worship Me and offer Salah perfectly for My remembrance.” - (Surah Taha, 13-14)

Verily, the Salah keeps one from the great sins and evil deeds.”  - (29:45)

Even on the Day of Judgement, the first thing questioned about will be SALAH.

It is obligatory to perform at any cost and situation whether he or she, free or slave, rich or poor, sick or healthy, travelling or at home.

No Adult has an exception from this. However it is compulsory even during war time and any critical situation. It is the strong rope that is spread between the believer and his sustainer. Whenever he wants, can hold that strong rope for his safety.

Salah is food for soul, an ointment for wound, paregoric for pain, cure for diseases and the strongest weapon against Satan. There is no doubt that the skipper of Salah is deprived of a precious gift and is away from the divine help.

I'm sorry to say that a great majority of the Muslims are careless from this significant adoration. It's incumbent upon us that we should wake them up from this carelessness towards this duty and we should also make efforts at least in our society that there none must be the skipper of salah In sha Allah.

May Allah (SWT) make it easy for us to pray on time and keep us firm on the footsteps on his beloved (Peace Be Upon Him). Ameen
