Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi :
His views on religion, Moral Philosophy and Tasawwuf

Compiled  By Prof. Ahmed Ali Khawaja
Foreword by N A Baloch, (Advisor National Hijra Council)
Paperback  138 Pages
Indian Publication, Adam Publishers

Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi, as an exponent of Islamic Moral Philosophy and tasawwuf, ranks high amongst the Muslim thinkers of his time and occupies a distinct position amongst them. He has practically left no field of Islamic Learning and its different aspects in their varied shades of thought which he has not explored and explained.

Since Maulana had a self-contained and synthetic view of Islamic Shari'at and held it as all embracing and comprehensive including his views of Tasawwuf and their varied implications and essentials, he brings them all within a scope of shari'at and gives his personal independent views calling it as meaningful Jurisprudence.  He brings all the stages, stations and states that a Sufi undergoes, that is, Tariqat, Haqiqat and Ma'rifat within the fold of Islam as Din which covers the entire field of human activity in it's different domains, inward and outward.T

About: Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi

His desire for Deen was initiated by his initial ustaad Moulana Fateh Muhammed Saheb.Commonly referred to as Hakim al-Ummat ('Sage of the Ummah'), was a giant among the Islamic scholars of the twentieth century. Moulana's Teachers were all great luminaries of their time. The most important amongst them was Moulana Muhammed Yaqub Saheb from whom he achieved the greatest amount of knowledge and spiritual benefit.
He learnt qiraat from the well-known Qari Muhammed Abdullah Saheb Muhajir Makki, during his student days in Deoband he desired to make a pledge on the hands of Moulana Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi but he ended becoming a desciple of Hajee Imadadullah.
