About The Book
This book attempts to survey briefly the origin, development and application of the four well-known ‘roots’ of Islamic Law, namely the Qur’an, Sunnah, Ijma and Qiyas.
The study is based mainly on the works of Imam Malik, Abu Yusuf, al-Shaybani and Imam al-Shafi'i. The author has made a critical analysis of the legal problems as they are discussed in the early manuals of Fiqh to trace the evolution of the four foundations of Islamic law.
About The Author
Prof. Ahmad Hasan needs no introduction to the students of Islamic jurisprudence. 'The Early Development of Islamic Jurisprudence' is his first book which is widely acclaimed as a well researched publication on the subject and has since run into three editions.
