About The Book
This is a unique translation of Juzz' Birr al-Walidain, a medieval tract by one of the greats of Islamic history on the theme of good treatment of parents.
In it the author records 76 narrations leading back to Prophet Muhammad and members of the early Islamic community on the significance of treating one’s parents in the best manner and other communal duties.
This critical edition is presented in both Arabic and English along with explanatory notes from noteworthy scholars of hadith including al-Nawawi (d. 1277) and Ibn Hajr (d. 1448).
Imam Al-Bukhari authored several Ajza', or short collections of Hadith, including: al-Raqa'iq (heart-softeners), Qira'a Khalf al-Imam (the recital [of Surah al-Fatihah] behind an Imam), Raff' al-Yadain (raising the hands [before and after bowing, in the prayer]), etc.
His Juzz Birr al-Walidain, on the subject of good treatment towards one’s parents, was recently published in Arabic for the first time and is now presented to English-speaking audiences in this complete translation accompanied with explanatory notes.
