About The Book
The brief treatise known as the "Articles of Belief" (al Aqaid) in Islam, is by the renowned Imam all-Nasafi, who has enumerated some 59 points of belief, each one of them being established by a Qur'anic ayah or a sahih hadith. There is a consensus about all these fundamental beliefs mentioned in its' pages and there is no disagreement about them.
The Sharah (Commentary) is by the renowned Imam Sa'ad al-Din al-Taftazani (d. 792) where he tries to explain the brief treatise so as to give the details of its general principles and clarify the intricacies of the subject.
This specific commentary has been taught in Madrassa's, Schools and Islamic universities for several hundred years. It is very easy to read and understand while it also provides the student with proofs from the Holy Qur'an and numerous Ahadiths of the Prophet (saw).
About Imam An-Nasafi
Abu al-Barakat, Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Mahmud al-Nasafi is known as 'hafiz al-deen'. He was born in the village of 'Nasaf' from the area of 'ma wara' al-nahr' known as 'saghd', near Samarkand in Turkestan. His home town 'Nasaf' was also known as 'Nakhshab'.
A famous author, righteous and great Hanafi faqih, al-Nasafi studied under the prominent scholars of his era, such as Muhammad bin Abd al-Sattar Karwari known as 'the sun amongst the scholars', Ali bin Muhammad bin Ali Hameed al-Din Aziz and Badr al-Din Khawahir Zadah.
He is author of some one hundred books on such diverse topics as fiqh, literature, tafsir and so on. Amongst his numerous titles are: the magnanimous Imam, Leader of the Muslim and Star of religion and nation. He wrote a short, succinct and accurate summary of the authentic Muslim beliefs in his popular work, Aqa'id an-Nasafi.
About The Commentator
Sa'ad al-Din al-Taftazani was born in 712 AH/1312 AD. He was a Hanafi/Maturidi scholar who made major contributions to the sciences of theology, Islamic jurisprudence, linguistics, rhetoric, logic, literature and other numerous works on the intellectual sciences.
